In this section, we describe how to activate the PISCES model in the NEMO and CROCO ocean models.

Two ocean models, two ways to activate PISCES

The methods for activating the PISCES model, its versions (Operational, Research, Simple) and optional features differ between NEMO and CROCO. In a short summary:

  • In NEMO, PISCES selection is done through the namelist parameters dedicated to version selection, without the need to recompile the NEMO code.
  • In CROCO, the activation and selection of the PISCES version is done via the configuration of dedicated CPP keys; it is therefore necessary to recompile the CROCO code once the version has been selected.
